일 년은 열 두달, 하루도 열 두개의 숫자로 우리를 안내한다. 사진첩에 켜켜이 쌓인 형상들은 빠르게 달려가는 초침 탓에 자세히 살펴 볼 겨를이 없다. 그래서 이들을 얼리고 깎아 고정된 바다 위에 띄웠다. 자세히 살펴보기 위해, 마음껏 음미하기 위해. 거실 가운데 자리한 벽시계를 떠올리며 나름의 위치를 정했다. 과연, 내년엔 어떤 것들이 얼려질지. A year guides us through its twelve months, and a day through its twelve numbers. The images stacked layer upon layer in my photo albums leave me little time to examine them closely— the second hand runs too quickly for that. So I froze them, carved them, and set them afloat upon a still sea— so I could look at them carefully, so I could savor them fully. Thinking of the wall clock that sits in the middle of my living room, I assigned each its own place. And I wonder: what will be frozen next year?

일 년은 열 두달, 하루도 열 두개의 숫자로 우리를 안내한다. 사진첩에 켜켜이 쌓인 형상들은 빠르게 달려가는 초침 탓에 자세히 살펴 볼 겨를이 없다. 그래서 이들을 얼리고 깎아 고정된 바다 위에 띄웠다. 자세히 살펴보기 위해, 마음껏 음미하기 위해. 거실 가운데 자리한 벽시계를 떠올리며 나름의 위치를 정했다. 과연, 내년엔 어떤 것들이 얼려질지.
